BMI:
- Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) & Wegovy (Semaglutide): usually BMI 30 or above, or BMI 27+ with a weight-related condition (e.g., high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea). These thresholds reflect the licensed indication.
- Orlistat: typically BMI 30 or above, or BMI 28+ with a weight-related condition.
Medical history & medicines: We screen for conditions and drug interactions that would make a treatment unsuitable or require caution (see below).
Pregnancy & breastfeeding: None of these medicines should be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Lifestyle commitment: All treatments must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Note on ethnicity and BMI: UK guidance recognises higher health risk at lower BMI for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds. We take this into account during the assessment, while still prescribing within licensed indications.
