Trimethoprim is a type of antibacterial medicine which works by killing the bacteria at the site of the infection. Trimethoprim tablets may be used to treat a wide range of infections including urinary infections and respiratory tract infections, and for long-term prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
