In men with male pattern hair loss, DHT causes hair follicles to shrink and hair to thin out. The active ingredient in this medicine is finasteride, which helps regrow hair and improve its thickness in most men experiencing hair loss. It works by stopping the conversion of testosterone to DHT in the hair follicles, and in over 80% of men an improvement was seen with reduction of hair loss and, in some, hair regrowth. Please note, this finasteride should be used continuously. If you stop taking this medicine, hair loss is likely to resume within six to twelve months.
