When the body encounters an allergen it produces a chemical called histamine, which causes symptoms such as itchiness, redness, and inflammation. The active ingredient in Piriton is an antihistamine called chlorphenamine maleate, which works by blocking the action of histamine, which prevents these symptoms from occurring.
Many people use Piriton for hayfever to treat symptoms such as itchiness, redness, swelling, tenderness, and irritation caused by hayfever, allergies, nettle rash, prickly heat, insect bites, and more. Additionally, it provides symptomatic relief for itchiness associated with chickenpox.
