Paracetamol 500mg belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics which help alleviate symptoms of mild to moderate pain such as joint pain or period pain. It also helps to relieve aches and pains including headache, toothache, symptoms of cold and flu.
May also be used for the relief of:
- migraine
- neuralgia
- sore throat
- period pain
- rheumatic and muscular aches and pains
- sciatica
- fibrositis
- lumbago
- joint swelling and stiffness
It is safe to take paracetamol alongside pain killers which contain medicines such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen of Diclofenac, but NOT other medicines which also contain Paracetamol.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:
- allergic reactions such as skin rash
- mouth sores
- fever
- difficulty breathing
- you may become more prone to bleeding, bruising, fever and infections, such as sore throat and ulcers, due to changes in your blood
- nausea
- sudden weight loss
- loss of appetite
- yellowing of the eyes and skin
If you experience these or any other side effects while taking this medicine seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed.

Do not give to children under 6 years.
Do not exceed the stated dose. Four hours must elapse between each dose and not more than 4 doses should be taken in 24 hours.
If symptoms persist consult your doctor.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Medicines should not be taken during pregnancy without consulting your doctor or midwife.
Do not take with any other paracetamol containing medicines.
