Ovex is a widely used treatment for threadworm (also known as pinworm) infections in the gut and is suitable for adults and children over 2 years old.
The active ingredient, mebendazole, belongs to a class of medicines called anthelmintics, and works by stopping worms from using sugar (glucose) to live.
Like all medicines, this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:

Not suitable to be taken in pregnancy or by breastfeeding mothers.
Not suitable for a child under 2 years.
Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed.

Please note: Since threadworms can spread very easily, it is strongly recommended that all the family (except pregnant, breast-feeding women or children under 2) are treated at the same time and that suitable hygiene precautions are followed to prevent re-infection.
