Oestrogel contains the active ingredient estradiol 0.06%, and is a type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) known as oestrogen-only HRT. Oestrogel is used to treat oestrogen deficiency in women after menopause and can also be used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are at high risk for developing the condition.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Painful periods
- Menstrual periods which are heavier or last longer than usual
- Abnormal or irregular bleeding
- White or yellow vaginal discharge

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
