Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) which work by reducing pain and inflammation.
Ibuprofen is used for the symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation in arthritic diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis), degenerative arthritic conditions (e.g. osteoarthritis) and in painful swelling and inflammation after soft tissues injuries.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:
- Indigestion
- Heartburn
- Reflux
- Nausea
- Stomach pain
