In hair follicles, a male hormone testosterone can convert to another hormone, called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for the shrinking of hair follicles and the thinning of hair in men with male pattern hair loss .
The active ingredient in this medicine is finasteride, which helps the hair to regrow and improves hair thickness in most men experiencing hair loss. It works by stopping the conversion of testosterone to DHT in the hair follicles, and in over 80% of men an improvement was seen with reduction of hair loss and, in some, hair regrowth.
Please note, finasteride should be used continuously. If you stop taking this medicine, hair loss is likely to resume within six to twelve months.
