Estriol cream contains a hormone called oestrogen and is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to treat symptoms of menopause, such as vaginal dryness and itching. Estriol cream helps replace oestrogen in the vagina when the body cannot produce enough which relieves vaginal discomfort and dryness.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:

  • Itching around the area at start of treatment
  •  Nausea (feeling sick)
  •  Vaginal bleeding
  •  Discharge or discomfort
  •  Flu like symptoms
  •  Headache
