Corsodyl Daily Mouthwash is medically designed to treat and prevent gum disease. It also promotes gum healing, maintains oral hygiene and controls mouth ulcers. Corsodyl Daily Mouthwash can be used to manage oral thrush and denture sore mouth.
The active ingredient in Corsodyl is an anti bacterial agent called chlorhexidine digluconate, which helps to reduce plaque formation. Plaque accumulates on teeth due to bacterial growth, and can lead to oral health problems such as gum disease. Corsodyl serves as a short-term intensive treatment to eliminate this plaque-causing bacteria, leaving your teeth clean, fresh and protected.
Like all medicines, this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop using the mouthwash and seek immediate medical attention if you experience a rash, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, or face, or difficulty breathing. These symptoms may indicate a severe allergic reaction, which is very rare.
Discontinue use and inform your dentist if you experience mouth irritation, or soreness, or swelling of the inside of the cheeks. These side effects should subside once the treatment is stopped.
Temporary staining of the tongue may occur, which will disappear when treatment is stopped. Temporary staining of the teeth can also occur and is usually removed by brushing. To avoid staining, refrain from drinking tea, coffee, or red wine, especially within one hour of use, and brush daily with toothpaste. If staining persists, a scale and polish from your dentist or hygienist can remove it. Dentures can be cleaned with a denture cleaner.
You may notice a change of taste or burning sensation. If you are concerned about side effects please speak to your pharmacist or dentist who can advise you further.
Please read the patient information leaflet before use.
Do not use this product if you have ever had an allergic reaction to chlorhexidine digluconate or any of the other ingredients.
Do not use immediately after brushing your teeth. Toothpastes can stop Corsodyl from working. Rinse your mouth thoroughly and wait 5 minutes before using Corsodyl.
This product is safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
