The active ingredient in Condyline is an anti-mitotic drug called podophyllotoxin. Anti-mitotics work by preventing the wart cells from growing and destroying the wart cells over time. For most people, it can take between 6 months to 2 years for the warts to clear up completely.

Like all medicines, this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Possible side effects include:

  • Wearing away the top layers of skin
  • Application site irritation including redness, itching, burning sensation
  • Allergic reaction
  • Pain/swelling/bleeding
  • Skin ulcer
  • Scab
  • Skin discoloration
  • Dry skin
  • Blister

These effects can occur on the area of skin where you use the cream.
