Colofac contains the active ingredient mebeverine. Mebeverine is an antispasmodic which helps relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by causing the muscles in and around the gut to relax. Symptoms associated with IBS can include diarrhoea, abnormal stools, cramping pains in the stomach, bloating and wind.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects occur rarely, but can include red, itchy skin or a rash after taking mebeverine tablets.

If you experience these or any other side effects while taking this medicine seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
