Cerazatte contains the active ingredient desogestrel, a synthetic version of the female sex hormone progesterone. Desogestrel prevents pregnancy in two ways: first, it thickens the cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to enter the uterus. Second, it stops ovulation by preventing the release of eggs.
