Bactroban contains a medicine called mupirocin calcium, which is used to treat certain skin infections caused by bacteria.
It works by killing the bacteria responsible for causing infections on your skin, namely Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus
pyogens.
In addition to conditions such as impetigo, boils and folliculitis, Bactroban can be used to treat small cuts, lacerations, wounds or on scraped skin.
Like all medicines, this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects include:
- Itching
- redness
- Burning
- Rash
- Swelling
- Pain on your skin where Bactroban is applied
Dryness and redness of the skin can also occur on other parts of your body.

Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
