Weight support for your teenager, built around the whole family.
A calm, judgement-free service from 24 HR Pharmacy — full clinical assessment, whole-household lifestyle support, and protocol-led prescribing backed by a wider clinical team.
Childhood and teenage weight in the UK, today
This is common, and it's rising — the current national data makes that clear. It's not about willpower, and your family isn't alone in finding it hard.
4–5 year olds across the UK are overweight or living with obesity — 23.5% in England (2024/25), 24% in Scotland (2024/25), 27.3% in Wales (2024/25), and 25% in Northern Ireland (2023/24).
of 10–11 year olds in England are overweight or living with obesity by the end of primary school (36.2%, 2024/25); a similar pattern shows in Northern Ireland by age 11–12 (34.7%, 2023/24) — rates climb through childhood in every UK nation.
Children in more deprived areas are significantly more likely to be living with obesity — a pattern seen across all four UK nations, not just one region.
Programmes that involve the whole household consistently outperform ones that focus on the young person alone.

Who we see, and where we redirect instead
This service is likely a good fit if
- Your teenager is aged 12–17
- Your family would value structured, ongoing support with food, activity, sleep and confidence
- You've been referred by a GP, school nurse, or the National Child Measurement Programme — or you're self-referring
- You want the whole household involved, not just your teenager
We'll redirect you if
- Your teenager shows signs of restrictive, compulsive, or highly distressed eating — we'll connect you with eating-disorder-specific support instead
- There's an urgent medical concern — please contact your GP or 111/999 rather than booking here
- Your child is under 12 — we'll redirect you to an age-appropriate service. Over 17s can be pointed toward adult services.
If medication is ever right for your teenager, it's a considered decision — not a first step
Most families we see benefit most from the lifestyle and family-support programme alone. For those where medication such as a GLP-1 receptor agonist may be a relevant option, it's assessed against a clinical protocol, with our paediatrician and dietitian brought in whenever a case needs their input.
We don't offer a "how much could I lose" calculator. Outcomes vary by individual and can only be discussed meaningfully after a full clinical assessment — not estimated from height and weight alone.
- Who decides: our lead prescribing pharmacist, working from our published clinical protocol, with a paediatrician and dietitian brought in whenever a case needs their specific input.
- Mental health and eating disorders: always referred to specialist support — we don't manage these in-house, and any concern identified pauses the weight-management pathway immediately.
- Our role: full assessment, protocol-led prescribing where appropriate, and ongoing monitoring for as long as treatment continues.
- What's involved: regular review, growth and wellbeing monitoring, and support with any side effects.
- What we won't do: start medication outside our published clinical protocol, promise a specific outcome, or advertise a named medicine as guaranteed.

You're never relying on one person's judgement
Alongside our lead prescriber, this service is backed by a named paediatrician and dietitian, brought in whenever a case needs their specific expertise. Any mental health or eating-disorder concern is always referred to specialist support outside the service.

Initial consultation — 60 minutes with our lead prescribing pharmacist.
Repeat consultations — 30 minutes, for ongoing reviews.
Medication — where prescribed, priced by dose. Starts around £130 during titration, rising to around £250 at the maintenance dose. We'll show you exactly where your plan sits before anything is charged.
Medication is never guaranteed at booking — cost only applies where our clinical protocol supports prescribing, following full assessment.
Good to know before you book
Will my child be seen on their own?
Part of the consultation is offered privately with your teenager, as standard practice for every family we see.
Do you prescribe weight-loss medication directly?
Our lead pharmacist is a qualified independent prescriber, working from a published clinical protocol. Our paediatrician and dietitian are brought in whenever a case needs their input. If our screening identifies a psychological or eating-behaviour concern, we always refer that young person to specialist support — this isn't something we manage in-house.
Can you tell me how much weight my child could lose?
No — we don't offer projections or a calculator. Individual response varies considerably and can only be discussed meaningfully after a full assessment, not estimated from a form.
Is this covered by the NHS?
No — this is a private service. It isn't commissioned or funded by the NHS, so there's a fee for every appointment. You can still be referred to us by a GP, school nurse, or via the National Child Measurement Programme, but the consultation itself is paid for privately, not free on the NHS. Our standard pricing is £300 for your initial consultation, £175 for follow-ups, and — where medication is prescribed — cost varies by dose, from around £130 up to around £250 at the maintenance dose. We'll confirm everything with you before you book anything.
What if I'm worried this might trigger disordered eating?
This is something we actively screen for. If our team has any concern, we'll pause the weight-management pathway and connect you with appropriate eating-disorder support instead.
Ready to get the right support for your child?
Book your first consultation online in a few minutes — there's no pressure, and no commitment beyond a conversation.
Safety note: If you're worried about your teenager's health or safety right now, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or 999 rather than waiting for an appointment.
Prescribing decisions follow our published clinical protocol, with our paediatrician and dietitian brought in whenever a case needs their input.
