FAQs
From what age can Anbesol Liquid be used?
Anbesol Liquid can be used for teething babies from 5 months of age. For premature babies or those with slow development, the age should be increased to 5-6 months. Always consult your pharmacist if unsure.
What is the difference between Anbesol Liquid and Anbesol Gel?
Anbesol Liquid contains 0.9% lidocaine and is suitable for teething infants from 5 months. Anbesol Adult Strength Gel contains 2% lidocaine and is only for adults and children over 12 years.
How should I apply Anbesol Liquid to my baby?
Cover the bottle opening with a clean finger, turn the bottle upside down once to coat your finger, then gently apply to your baby's gums. Do not apply to the back of the throat due to choking risk.
Can I use Anbesol Liquid while breastfeeding?
Small amounts of lidocaine pass into breast milk but in such tiny quantities that it should not harm your baby when used as directed. However, consult your doctor or pharmacist if concerned.
Why does Anbesol Liquid contain alcohol?
The alcohol helps the active ingredients work effectively. The amount in each dose is very small - equivalent to less than 4ml of beer - and should not have noticeable effects in adults, though may cause slight sleepiness in young children.
